After the death of Garcia in , former members of the band, along with other musicians, toured as the Other Ones in , , and , and the Dead in , , and In , the four surviving core members marked the band's 50th anniversary in a series of concerts that were billed as their last performances together. Europe '72 Volume 2 is a live album by the rock band the Grateful Dead. It is a 2-CD set which features 20 tracks from the band's Spring tour of Europe.
As such, it represents a belated sequel to the band's original 3-LP release, Europe ' Around the time of the production of the massive Europe ' The Complete Recordings box set in , Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux was charged with the task of developing this follow-up compilation, nearly four decades later, without repeating any of the songs that appeared on Europe ' As with the box set, all of the music for this CD was remastered from the original track tapes and encoded with HDCD specifications.
